The Best Lower East Side Movers
This vibrant neighborhood has gone through many transformations from cramped tenement housing for immigrants to punk rock/dive bar central in the 1990s to 2000s to luxury apartments and shops. The change has been so rapid that the National Trust for Historic Preservation has listed the neighborhood on America’s Most Endangered Places in 2008. While the look of the neighborhood might have changed thanks to more high rises popping up, it still offers some amazing bars, restaurants, clubs, and art galleries.
The one thing that doesn’t change in the Lower East Side is the moving process. NYC Great Movers have helped hundreds of satisfied customers with their relocation. We take all the guesswork out of it so all you have to do is sit back and relax on moving day. If you need anything else from us whether it’s moving a single piece of furniture, procuring a certificate of insurance for your building, or just getting some extra boxes, we can help all at a reasonable price.

Our Top Lower East Side Moving Tips
Cost of Living
Once upon a time, the Lower East Side used to be one of the cheaper neighborhoods in Manhattan. Today, rent prices have skyrocketed and you probably won’t be able to find a one bedroom under $3,000. If you do find a cheaper one, jump on it as soon as possible!
Transportation
The reason so many people moved out to Astoria is because of its subway access. You can hop onto the N, W, M, and R trains which will get you to Midtown in about 15 minutes. If you fly often, you can take the M60 express to get you to LaGuardia Airport in less than 45 minutes. And, of course, there are plenty of bus routes that take you to different parts of Queens and into Manhattan. As of 2017, the area is also served by the NYC Ferry’s Astoria route.
Crime and Safety
Although the Lower East Side has a slightly higher crime rate than the rest of the city, it is getting safer every year. With more people moving in and many of the old haunts replaced by more luxury shops, there’s less trouble in the area. Besides a police department, the area is served by two fire departments.
What to Do and See
As crowded as the Lower East Side is, it still manages to have little pockets of green dotted around the neighborhood in the form of community gardens and parks. With more than a dozen community gardens, you can find a location that provides a bit of tranquility in this busy city. If you prefer admiring artwork, then you can stop by the New Museum on the Bowery for work from modern artists or go to the Tenement Museum for more information on the neighborhood’s history. If you experience movie history, head on over to Katz’s Deli where you can get a gigantic Pastrami sandwich in the same booth where Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal performed that infamous scene from When Harry Met Sally.
Chances are you moved to the Lower East Side because you wanted to take advantage of the amazing night life in the area. Love live music? There are plenty of venues to choose from including the Bowery Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, and Arlene’s Grocery. Of course, many bars host open mic night on the weekends so you can generally pop in to hear some amazing local musicians. Should you get hungry there are plenty of places to choose from including Clinton St. Baking Company for some of the best pancakes in NYC and the Original Doughnut Plant for handcrafted creme brulee or peanut butter and jelly donuts.
