The Best Little Italy Movers

If you’ve ever walked around Little Italy, the neighborhood is truly Little. In its heyday, the area extended as far south as Worth Street and as far North as Houston between Lafayette and Bowery. Today, many people view Little Italy as just five blocks on Mulberry Street. While the neighborhood has certainly shrunk over the years, it’s still a huge tourist attraction due to the sheer number of Italian restaurants and shops. Not to mention, the area becomes absolutely packed with tourists and locals alike during the annual San Gennaro Festival. So whether you’re an Italian who wants to access to some classic shops or a person who just loves Italian culture, this is the place for you.

Moving to Little Italy can be challenging, especially since many of the streets are blocked off from traffic. Luckily, NYC Great Movers has plenty of experience relocating folks to this neighborhood. We can help you with every aspect of your move whether it’s renting plastic bins, getting some extra moving supplies, or basic disassembly, we’ve got you covered. Reach out to us when you’re ready to move and we’ll provide you with everything you need to know about our moving process.

Our Top Moving Tips

Our Top Little Italy Moving Tips

Cost of Living

Finding an apartment in this vibrant neighborhood means spending at least $3,000 on a one bedroom apartment. If you want to buy, expect to pay around $2.5 million.

Transportation

There’s plenty of public transportation options in and around Little Italy. You can easily hop on one of the many nearby train lines like the B, D, J, Z, N, Q, R, and W trains or take a bus. Mulberry Street gets blocked off during the weekend, so you can stroll or bike down car-free streets.

Crime and Safety

While Little ltaly had an organized crime problem in the early 20th century, nowadays its crime rates are well below the average for NYC as a whole.

What to Do and See

Little Italy is home to dozens of restaurants that serve authentic Italian cuisine. You can grab some pizza at the original Lombardi’s Pizza which has been around since 1905. Or go to Umberto’s Clam House for some delicious seafood. If you’re looking for some pastries, check out Ferrara Bakery for some great coffee and sweets. But if you want Cannoli, then definitely go to Caffe Palermo or authentic Italian flavor. Should you get tired of Italian food, you can head a bit further south to Chinatown for some authentic Chinese dishes.

Besides checking out the restaurants, Little Italy also hosts the yearly San Gennaro Festival. Enjoy Italian food, culture, and music during this 11 day event. You can even hop on a ferris wheel and enjoy the views of Little Italy from above. While San Gennaro is the largest festival in the neighborhood, there are many other activities including Carnevale, Columbus Day, and Christmas events that you can attend. In between enjoying all the food, enjoy some art at the Lohman Museum of Art.
