The Best Great Kills Movers
This charming waterfront neighborhood is located on the southern shore of Staten Island and boasts a tranquil and picturesque setting for its residents. While the word Kills might not have the most positive connotations in English, it is actually an archaic Dutch word with various translations including creek and channel. As you might expect, the neighborhood itself is dotted with small streams, so whether you like the vastness of the ocean or small bodies of running water, you can enjoy both here.
If you’re ready to move into your waterfront home, make sure to give NYC Great Movers a call. We have helped hundreds of people make their move to Staten Island. Our company offers professional service at affordable flat-rates. Give us a call and we’ll work with you to create custom moving plan that matches your needs and budget.

Our Top Great Kills Moving Tips
Cost of Living
Waterfront properties are never cheap and Great Kills is no exception. Compared to the rest of Staten Island, house prices and rents tend to be more expensive. Median housing prices are around $650,000. There are also fewer rentals available so you’ll be hard-pressed to find something. Still, if you can find available apartments, you can expect to pay around $1,900 for a one-bedroom apartment.
Transportation
Great Kills offers excellent connection to transportation options including the Staten Island Railway at Great Kills station. The station offers express stops during the morning and evening weekdays and local trains 24/7. It also provides local and express buses that take you throughout Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.
Crime and Safety
Great Kills is incredibly safe. In fact, it is considered one of the safest neighborhoods in all of NYC with violent crimes less than half of the city as a whole and lower than the national average. The neighborhood is served by one police station and FDNY engine company.
What to Do and See
If you love the outdoors then you’ll love Great Kills. It is home to several parks including the Great Kills Park, which is home to a natural salt marsh and four different beaches. The 523-acre park also has hiking and biking trails, fishing areas, and a boat launch. If you want to check out a different beach, head over to Crescent Beach Park, which offers a mixture of beach, wooded and wetland sites.
If your kids are little league players, then you’ll want to enroll them into the Great Kills Little League, winners of the state baseball championship back in 2011. If they’re not into baseball, there are also youth organizations for soccer and cheerleading. Then after practice grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood.
