The Best Civic Center Movers

While many people might not be familiar with the name Civic Center, most know exactly where it is. Located in downtown Manhattan, the Civic Center is home to the governmental buildings including City Hall, One Police Plaza, Woolworth Building, and the various civil and county Manhattan courthouses. Despite being in NYC, it’s a relatively quiet neighborhood, but you’re never too far away from the action as the neighborhood is right next door to TriBeCa, Chinatown, and the Financial District.

There’s no easy move in NYC, but moving to Civic Center brings its own challenges. In order to navigate this unique neighborhood, hire NYC Great Movers. With years of experience, our crew can help make your move as easy as possible. So whether you’re a seasoned NYC veteran or moving here for the first time, we can help in almost every area of your move whether you need some packing supplies or long-term storage. Our Top Moving Tips

Our Top Civic Center Moving Tips

Cost of Living

With its easy access to public transportation, proximity to TriBeCa, and multitude of historic buildings, living in the Civic Center isn’t cheap. Rentals average around $4,000 for a one bedroom and if you want to buy then expect to pay $2.5 million at least.

Transportation

Since the Civic Center is home to almost every governmental building in Manhattan, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of public transportation options. You have easy access to the A, C, E, J, Z, R, W, 4, 5, and 6 trains. There are also plenty of local and express buses.

Crime and Safety

Crime rates in the Civic Center are lower than NYC as a whole thanks to the bright street lights and police presence. The area is served by a fire department and has access to two nearby hospitals

What to Do and See

The Civic Center is a great place for architecture buffs as you can see a variety of different styles. There’s the Woolworth which boasts a Gothic Revival design and, of course, City Hall, which combines the architecture influences of the French Renaissance and English neoclassicism. And just a short walk away is the World Trade Center, which is home to One World Trade Center, the tallest building in NYC. History fans also have it pretty good in the Civic Center as many of these buildings are also historical landmarks. And while you’re looking around, don’t forget to check out the African Burial Ground Monument, which commemorates the burial ground of free and enslaved Africans.

When it comes to shopping or eating, you’ll have to travel a little outside of the Civic Center for some good options. Head over to Westfield to admire the architecture of the Oculus while shopping at the numerous stores and restaurants inside. If you want to take in a bit of nature, head over to Hudson River Park for some great waterfront views.
