The Best Chinatown Movers
Home to the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, the Manhattan Chinatown is, in fact, one of nine Chinatown neighborhoods in NYC and the most famous. If you know where to go, you can get some of the most authentic Hong Kong and Chinese food in the city. And, of course, you can experience Chinese cultural events including Lunar New Year, Mid Autumn Festival, and more!
Navigating the narrow streets of Chinatown can be challenging, especially if you’re driving a truck! Luckily, our experienced moving team knows exactly how to get around and can make your move stress-free. We provide everything you can imagine that involves relocation including small moves, full-service packing, last-minute moves, and more.

Our Top Chinatown Moving Tips
Cost of Living
Chinatown is no longer an affordable neighborhood and a one-bedroom apartment averages around $3,600. If you want to buy, you can expect to pay around $3 million. Still, you can save money in other areas. For example, groceries tend to be much cheaper in one of the many Chinese grocery stores and you can also get plenty of specialty foods for cheap!
Transportation
There’s no shortage of subways available in Chinatown thanks to the two subway stations – Grand Street (B and D) and Canal Street (4, 6, J, N, Q, R, W, and Z). There’s also the A, C, E on the west side of Canal street that you can also hop on. Don’t want to take the train? There are multiple bus routes to choose from.
Crime and Safety
While Chinatown’s crime rate might be slightly higher than NYC as a whole, it’s still quite safe especially during the day time. Avoid Canal Street, especially off the subway stop as there are a lot of counterfeiters trying to sell to unsuspecting tourists. And, of course, always be alert and aware of your surroundings.
What to Do and See
There’s a ton to do and see in Chinatown. There are tons of restaurants that offer a variety of cuisine from different parts of China. Check out Hay Hay Roasted for some of the best roasted duck. If you have limited funds, check out Wah Fung No. 1 for some affordable and delicious meals. Interested in Shanghainese food? Then go to HK Wonton Garden for some soups, noodles, dim sum, and more. Then indulge your sweet tooth at the longstanding Chinatown Ice Cream Factory for some unique flavors Durian, Pandan, and Taro.
There’s no shortage of things to do in Chinatown. If you live here, you should attend Chinese Lunar New Year at least once. For other events, check out the official Chinatown website for a list of upcoming events for individuals, families, and businesses. There are also two museums to check out – the Museum of Chinese in America and Mmuseumm – a 36 square feet museum with rotating artifacts that illustrate the modern world. For more entertainment, head over to the Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center to play some classic arcade games.
