The Best Waterfront, Jersey City Movers
The Waterfront neighborhood of Jersey City gets its name from, you guessed it, the view of the Hudson River. Located directly opposite Lower Manhattan, you can get some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Walk inland and you’re a short walk from Historic Downtown. Plus, it’s convenient for commuters as it’s just a stone’s throw away from the PATH train into Manhattan or the light rail to other locations in New Jersey. It’s no surprise that this neighborhood is seeing a lot of growth in the past few years!

Our Top Waterfront Moving Tips
Cost of Living
Getting waterfront property comes with costs. So it should come as no surprise that rents in the Waterfront neighborhood tend to be on the expensive side at around $3,000 for a one-bedroom. If you choose to buy, you can expect to pay a cool million for a brownstone or multi-story house. Buying an apartment is cheaper, but you’ll still probably pay around $500,000.
Transportation
Whether you’re commuting to NYC or Newark, both are accessible if you live along The Waterfront. You can hop on The PATH train to Manhattan or the light rail further into New Jersey. If you want to drive, the Holland Tunnel is located within the neighborhood.
Crime and Safety
With so many families in the neighborhood, safety is paramount and luckily, The Waterfront delivers. Overall crime rates are around 50-60% lower than the city and national averages thanks to its over 1,000 police officers patrolling the neighborhood.
What to Do and See
There’s a lot of things to do at The Waterfront, but a favorite place for local residents is Liberty State Park. This 240 acre park also has a 36-acre nature preserve with one of the few remaining tidal salt marshes along the Hudson River. The park itself has plenty of attractions for visitors including the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal, miles of pathways, outdoor performance area, and, of course, open fields for picnicking.
There’s also plenty of events and festivals throughout the year including the Jersey City Pride Festival in June and the Downtown Street Fair showcases in September. If you’re more into the food and drinks scene, there are plenty of options available. Catch some live music at White Eagle Hall and then grab some drinks at Piggyback Bar. You can also enjoy some delicious Italian at Battello while enjoying the Manhattan skyline.
