Our Top Glenbrook Moving Tips
Cost of Living
You should prepare yourself for higher than average housing costs in Glenbrook. Average houses cost around $600,000, with many going higher into the $1 million territory. The majority of residents rent so you’ll probably have better luck finding an apartment versus single family house. Rents are around $2,100 for a one-bedroom.
Transportation
The biggest benefit of living in Glenbrook is its access to public transportation. You can hop on the Glenbrook Metro-North trains and head into Stamford (less than 2 miles away) or take the train all the way into NYC. There are also multiple bust stops and plenty of sidewalks for additional transportation options. It is also only 14 miles away from the Westchester County Airport, which provides domestic flights.
Crime and Safety
Due to its proximity to downtown Stamford and the metro-north station, Glenbrook isn’t quite as safe as its neighbor Belltown or Springdale. However, its average crime rates are on par with the rest of the nation with lower rates of homicide and assault with a weapon. Glenbrook is served by the Stamford Police Department and Fire Department.
What to Do and See
Glenbrook is one of the larger neighborhoods of Stamford, but it still has a small town feel. As such, you shouldn’t expect much nightlife. The attractions are geared more towards working professionals and families. With that said, if you’re a foodie there are plenty of places to check out such as Hope Restaurant for some Greek food or Bacco for some Italian. You can also head over to Glenbrook Center for some shopping.
A portion of the Noroton River passes through Glenbrook. Although you can’t access the river from Glenbrook, you can catch a glimpse along Glenbrook Road. If you have kids, you’ll likely become very familiar with Northrop Park, a small 2.4 acre park that is home to a basketball court, playground, and Little League field.
