The Best Fordham Movers

The Best Fordham Movers

Fordham is best known for Fordham University, one of the top 100 universities in the United States. As such, it tends to attract a younger crowd, which means the neighborhood has plenty to offer when it comes to food and nightlife. That doesn’t mean you should avoid it if you have a family! There’s still plenty to do and, despite being densely populated, there are many pockets of Fordham that offer a quiet, residential feel. It’s why Fordham is one of the best neighborhoods in the Bronx!

As the top Bronx movers, we at NYC Great Movers can help answer any questions you might have. In addition to our basic moving service we also offer things like plastic bin rentals, moving supplies, and even basic disassembly of certain furniture. We also offer a variety of other services, so give us a call and let us know what you need! Our expert moving team provides amazing local Bronx moving services and can help with other things like commercial moves, small moves, and more!

Our Top Moving Tips

Our Top Fordham Moving Tips

Cost of Living

Due to being a ‘college town’ Fordham rents tend to be higher than the rest of the Bronx. You can expect to pay around $2,000 for a one bedroom apartment, though you might be able to find cheaper places if you have time to look around. Buying a house might be a better option if you can afford it with houses going for around $450,000.

Transportation

Fordham is well connected so you can easily get into and out of the area with no issues. There are plenty of buses that can take you to different areas of the Bronx, Westchester, and Manhattan. If you prefer traveling by train you have access to the 4, B, and D subways and the Metro-North.

Crime and Safety

With so many people in the neighborhood, there’s bound to be some crime especially with a bunch of rowdy college kids. Still, Fordham ranks as one of the safer Bronx neighborhoods being served by two police departments and two fire departments. Surprisingly, there aren’t any hospitals in the neighborhood, but there are 3 nearby options in Claremont, Kingsbridge, and Belmont.

What to Do and See

Fordham is a perfect place if you want to enjoy all the trappings of NYC without having to pay sky high rents. Enjoy some classic Italian fare at San Gennaro or walk along Little Italy and check out one of the many homestyle Italian restaurants. If you’re in the mood for something a little different, try out some Albanian food at Çka Ka Qëllu.

Fordham is also great for nature lovers. Both the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Garden overlap large portions of Fordham. While you might not be able to truly walk through both in a single day, you can always purchase a membership and come back whenever you want! There’s also the historic Poe Park, named after Edgar Allen Poe, which includes a small cottage that he stayed at from 1846-1849.
