The Best Yorkville Movers
Before all the high rises, the Upper East Side used to be a farmland and market garden district. It wasn’t until the mid 1800s that the area started seeing development thanks to the New York and Harlem railroad. Nowadays, Yorkville is a bustling neighborhood with high rises popping up and renewed interest in the area thanks to the extension of the 2nd Avenue Q line. While technically a sub-neighborhood of the Upper East Side, the Yorkville community has been around since before 1867 and it tends to have a more relaxed vibe than the other sub-neighborhoods in the UES. That makes it a perfect place for people who want to live in Manhattan but still enjoy a bit of peace and quiet when they’re home.
Finding your dream apartment in Yorkville is hard so make the move easy by working with NYC Great Movers. Our professional moving crew know all the ins and outs of this neighborhood and can navigate everything from busy streets to narrow walkups. We provide a range of services that can make your move even easier from packing to long or short-term storage solutions. Reach out to us and we’ll work with you to create a custom moving plan.

Our Top Yorkville Moving Tips
Cost of Living
The Upper East Side in general isn’t cheap, but Yorkville tends to be slightly more affordable than other sub-neighborhoods. You can find a one-bedroom apartment for under $2,500 which is surprising considering all the amenities you get to enjoy!
Transportation
Yorkville is incredibly walkable, but if you need to travel north or south, you can easily hop on the 6 or Q line. There are also plenty of local and bus routes that will take you around the area and even cross town to the Upper West Side. The area is also served by the NYC Ferry that stops at 90th street and takes you over to Queens.
Crime and Safety
Yorkville is incredibly safe with crime rates lower than the city overall. Robberies tend to be the most common crime so make sure you’re always aware of your surroundings and put away your phone and/or other expensive devices.
What to Do and See
There’s a ton to do in Yorkville and the Upper East Side in general. If you want some greenspace, you can walk or bike along the East River Walk. Otherwise, head over to Carl Shurz Park for a respite from the hustle of Manhattan to enjoy views of Roosevelt and Randall’s Island. Central Park is also a short walk away as is the Guggenheim and the rest of Museum Mile.
There’s no shortage of restaurants to try in Yorkville. If you want some authentic Italian food, make sure to stop by Arturo’s for some classic dishes. Otherwise, check out The Mansion for some classic no-frills but delicious diner food. For something a bit more upscale, go to Cafe D’Alsace and enjoy some delicious french food and try the beer menu that has been curated by the restaurant’s beer sommelier.
