The Best Hell’s Kitchen Movers

If there’s one reason to move to the neighborhood, it’s because of the awesome name. Where did the name come from? No one can pinpoint the exact origin, but some refer to the tenement on 54th street as the first Hell’s Kitchen, while another points to an infamous building on 39th street as the origin. Wherever it came from, the name has stuck despite realtors trying to change the neighborhood name to Clinton. While the name might sound ominous, Hell’s Kitchen is one of the most sought after neighborhoods thanks to its historic brownstones, trendy restaurants, off-Broadway shows, and more.

Moving to Hell’s Kitchen doesn’t have to be hard as long as you have NYC Great Movers on your side! Our Top Hell’s Kitchen Moving Tips

Cost of Living

Transportation

Getting around town is pretty easy when you live in Hell’s Kitchen. You have access to the A, C, E, 1, 2, and 3 lines. If you walk a bit further inland, you can hop on the many trains at Times Square. And, of course, there are plenty of buses you can catch on 9th or 10th avenue if you don’t want to trek all the way to a subway station.

Crime and Safety

Hell’s Kitchen is home to two police departments and 4 fire stations. Crime rates are lower than the NYC average, although you should still always stay alert and be aware of your surroundings

What to Do and See

There’s so much to do and see in Hell’s Kitchen that you could never leave the neighborhood for a month and still not cover everything. The area provides an eclectic range of restaurants from authentic Thai cuisine at Pure Thai Cookhouse to classic diner food at Empire Diner. Or head on over to the water and have some delicious food at The North River Lobster Co. a boat bar that floats down the Hudson during the warmer months.

Speaking of boats, you definitely should check out the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, a retired aircraft carrier docked on Pier 81. Wander around the deck and check out the numerous aircrafts or head inside the ship to check out the space museum. After that, take a stroll along the Hudson River Park for some great views of the New Jersey Skyline and water. There are also several off Broadway theaters in the area including the Westside Theatre, a gorgeous venue located in a historic church and Theatre Row, a cluster of six performance theaters.
