The Best Gramercy Park Movers
Located just to the east of Union Square, the area gets its name from the 2-acre private park located in the center of the neighborhood. Gramercy Park was designated as a historic district by NYC back in 1966 and then registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Finding an apartment in this location is the dream of many New Yorkers due to its tranquil atmosphere, proximity to major train lines, and numerous amenities. Plus, residents of the area get private access to the exclusive park! There’s something to be said about having your own ‘private’ garden available to you whenever you want.
If you’re lucky enough to snag an apartment in Gramercy Park then make sure to give NYC Great Movers a call to help you with your relocation. We’ve moved hundreds of people to the area so we know how to navigate through all the quirks of the neighborhood. It doesn’t matter if you’re making a small move or a large move involving a piano, we’ve got you covered. Reach out to us and we’ll provide an estimate and more details on your move.

Our Top Gramercy Park Moving Tips
Cost of Living
With access to an exclusive park and historic buildings, it’s no surprise that apartment costs are high in Gramercy Park. One bedroom apartments average around $4,500. If you want to own a piece of this historic district, you can expect to pay at least $2 million.
Transportation
Located directly next to Union Square means you have access to the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, W, and L train. Regardless of where you want to go, you can easily get there, though it might take a transfer or two. If you prefer to stay above ground, there are plenty of local and express bus routes to take you to every corner of Manhattan.
Crime and Safety
Gramercy Park is one of the safest places in Manhattan with crime rates lower than the city average. It’s served by one police department and two fire departments. When it comes to health, it is close to “hospital row” giving you access to multiple hospitals including Beth Israel Medical Center, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and more.
What to Do and See
Living in Gramercy Park means getting exclusive access to the private garden, right? Well, it’s a bit more complicated than that. There are under 400 keys in existence with most of them not being owned by residents but of the co-op boards who own the surrounding buildings. Many of the co-ops rent the keys out to residents for a nominal fee and some will have a list to sign up for access to the keys for specific dates. These keys are so exclusive that new ones are made every year to reduce the risk of the keys being copied and circulated. If you do manage to get your hands on a key, always follow the rules. That means no dogs, no smoking, no drinking, no bikes, and no sports. If you can’t get your hands on a key, you can still enjoy some nature at the Stuyvesant Square Park, an equally beautiful but public greenspace.
Even if you don’t have access to the park, there’s still plenty to enjoy in the neighborhood. Catch a live performance at Irving Plaza or Gramercy Theatre. And just a stone’s throw away is the Daryl Roth Theatre where you can catch some of the best Off Broadway plays. When it comes to food, Gramercy Park has some of the best offerings. For special occasions, go to Casa Mono, a michelin-star rated Spanish tapas restaurant. If you’re looking for a classic diner experience, go to Gramercy Kitchen. Or if you’re just craving some pastries, head to Eleni’s Goods for some Greek coffee and baked goods.
