The Best Upper East Side Movers
The Upper East Side has always been a coveted neighborhood, especially along the now famous Fifth Avenue. The area has attracted historical names like Carnegie, Frick, Rockefeller, Roosevelt, and Kennedy. As such, the area has been known throughout history as the location for the upper echelons of society. Of course, there’s more to the Upper East Side than just the famous people who live there. It’s also home to some of the most famous museums in the world such as the Guggenheim and the Met, and, of course, Central Park.

Our Top Upper East Side Moving Tips
Cost of Living
While the Upper East Side might attract a lot of wealthy tenants, when compared to other locations in Manhattan, the rents aren’t too bad. You can expect to pay around $3,000 for a one-bedroom apartment. If you plan to purchase your own place, the median house cost is $1.6 million. Still, if you want to live in the area that’s the price you will need to pay.
Transportation
There are more ways to get around the Upper East Side than ever. With the completion of the Q line extension, you now have several options including the 4, 5, 6, and Q. Getting crosstown can be tricky, but there are buses you can hop on if you want to get to the west side. Or you can take a stroll through Central Park if you have the time.
Crime and Safety
The Upper East Side is a relatively safe neighborhood and has lower incidences of crime overall compared to the rest of NYC. With that said, practice common sense and stay alert especially if you’re walking by yourself at night. In addition to a police department, the area is served by 3 fire stations and 3 hospitals: Lenox Hill, New York-Presbyterian, and Weill Cornell Medical Center.
What to Do and See
The Upper East Side is home to a string of museums along Fifth Avenue. In fact, there are so many that it has been dubbed “Museum Mile.” Some of the most famous museums along the path include the Met, the Frick Collection, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Modern Art, El Museo del Barrio, and much more. You can spend an entire weekend walking along 82nd to 105th and not be able to visit all the museums and galleries. Even walking around the neighborhood is like taking a walk through a museum as the Carnegie Hill Historic District and Upper East Side Historic District are both considered a city landmark district.
There’s more than just museums in the Upper East Side. If Central Park is too crowded for you, head further east and enjoy Carl Schurz Park or walk along the East River for great views of Roosevelt Island and Queens. Once you’re done, enjoy some delicious food at Hoexters and then have a specialty drink at Bemelmans.
