The Best The Heights Movers
It might be considered a part of Jersey City, but many Hoboken natives claim The Heights as part of the city since it’s just a simple elevator ride or walk down the ‘100 steps’ to Hoboken’s light rail station. The Heights is one of the best neighborhoods in New Jersey for families thanks to its great schools, greenspaces, and low crime. It has also attracted many homeowners due to its beautiful Victorian and Edwardian style homes. As such, this is one New Jersey neighborhood that is seeing a huge population increase so you’ll want to move here before it becomes too popular.

Our Top The Heights Moving Tips
Cost of Living
With its growing popularity, The Heights is getting a lot more expensive. While still more affordable than say Manhattan, rents average around $1,700 for a one bedroom, but these tend to be a bit further away from Hoboken. If you want to be closer to the action, you can expect to pay at least $2,000.
Transportation
You can easily access the 2nd street light rail located off 2nd street or 9th street/Congress street station if you want to access different cities in New Jersey. And while it’s a bit outside of The Heights neighborhood, the Journal Square PATH station is just outside of the neighborhood, giving you easy access to Manhattan.
Crime and Safety
The Heights might have a slightly higher crime rate than the rest of New Jersey, but it is lower than the national average. Most of the crime is centered around Central Avenue, which is home to the neighborhood’s shopping district. It’s very safe during the day and early evenings so you don’t have to worry about staying out after dark..
What to Do and See
Businesses are thriving in The Heights with more migrating to the area than other parts of New Jersey due to the growing population boom. Some of the more popular places to hang out include Modcup Coffee, a punk/rave style coffee shop and Bread & Salt, a roman-style pizza and baker. There’s also plenty of small shops where you can buy anything you want from clothes to shoes and more! And of course the neighborhood has all the essentials including a grocery store and pharmacy.
Besides shopping and eating, there are plenty of other activities you can enjoy. If you love the arts, check out the eastern section of the Heights now known as Riverview Arts District. This area was re-zoned back in 2013 to allow artists to have live/work spaces so you can see all the best and brightest artwork here. If you’re more into nature, head over to Pershing Field Park for a relaxing stroll. During the winter you can practice your ice skating skills at the rink and in summer do some laps in the neighborhood pool. If you want a change of pace check out Riverview-Fisk park to the east which provides unparalleled views of the Hudson and NYC skyline.
